Who we are

Welcome to Elgin United Methodist Church. We are over 125 years old with new things happening everyday. We hope to offer unique opportunities for the worshipper as each of our four services is distinctly different.  Our 8 am service on Sunday is a comfortable communion service open to all leaving the day open for Sabbath rest, family and renewal. The 9 am service is a praise and worship style service for those who think 8am is just too early and who like a more energetic service centered around music. The 11 am service is a traditional service filled with families of all ages. Children are welcome in all our service but most families with small children seem to prefer this service. Our Wednesday night service follows our fellowship dinner and begins at 6:45. A large number of our youth come to the fellowship dinner at 6:00 and then stay for Bible study and this worship service with communion.

Average Worship Attendance: 300     Congregation Membership: appx. 700

Languages Spoken in Worship: English, Spanish, We have several who speak American sign language or Korean

What to expect when you visit

There is something going on almost everyday at Elgin United Methodist church. You can visit this website for an up-to date calendar or to listen to one of the services. We have five choirs, several classes of Disciple Bible Study, several on-going outreach projects and many more opportunities for you to find where God is calling you to serve in the Kingdom of Heaven. We are a congregation grounded in Scripture with a rich tradition. We encourage digging through scriptures and discovering for yourself what God has to say to you. Each person brings their own experience to their study, worship and service. We encourage diversity in our congregational life and see each and every person as a wonderful child of God needing and seeking a covenant community of faith to grow and serve in.

How we share our gifts

This congregation is active in local, regional and foreign missions. We seek to balance our ministries of reaching in for growth and development with reaching out to others with food, shelter, clothing and the living Gospel. We understand people express their faith differently and offer four distinct worship services where we reach up to God with praise and thanksgiving
